INTRODUCTION

Résumé

The issue explores the multifaceted nature of cartography across various cultures and disciplines. It delves into how mathematical and administrative cartography intersected over the centuries, examining the developments and interactions between these two domains. Additionally, it delves into the history of the Ottoman Empire to analyze the role of cartographers in the circulation of knowledge in the 17th century. The journal also explores European cartouches in an Islamic context, shedding light on cultural exchanges and mutual influences. Furthermore, it explores the connections between religious icons and cartography, as well as the spatial implications of racism through racial cartographies. Lastly, it examines cartography applied to fields such as public health in Lyon before World War I and the military analysis of the workers' uprising in the same city, providing a comprehensive overview of the themes addressed in this issue.
